Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan: His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, former President of the United Arab Emirates. His Highness was born on the evening of the seventh day of September 1948, and he is the eldest son of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the United Arab Emirates. His father appointed him as his representative in the Eastern Region and the head of the courts there on September 18, 1966, and on February 1, 1969 he was appointed Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and on February 2, 1969 he assumed the presidency of the Defense Department in Abu Dhabi. Upon the formation of the first Federal Council of Ministers on July 1, 1971, he was assigned the position of Deputy Prime Minister, and on February 20, 1974, he assumed the presidency of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. In May 1976, he was appointed Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the country, headed the Supreme Petroleum Council, and held the presidency of the Board of Directors of the Arab Monetary Fund and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. He also held the position of representative of the United Arab Emirates in the Arab Authority for Military Industrialization. He was behind the establishment of the Department of Social Services and Commercial Buildings, which assists Abu Dhabi citizens in this field. He has a number of children, including Sheikh Sultan and Sheikh Mohammed. He passed away, may God have mercy on him, on May 13, 2022.
